ARTIST SUBMISSION

Artist in Residence (AiR) Summer 2024

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Beacon Gallery’s nonprofit AiR program aspires to support artists to explore and unleash their creative process. The AiR program is designed to bring talented artists into Beacon Gallery’s creative space to produce work for in-situ and ongoing exhibition. One artist will have access to a studio and gallery space, to be used to create unique artwork while on-site.

We understand art as a product produced by an artist that can generate fruitful dialogs and engagements sparked by viewers' visceral reactions and responses to the work. We believe that artists play a crucial role in communicating and elaborating contemporary and historical social-political and cultural issues and their most significant shifts.

The Beacon Gallery AiR program supports artistic inquiries, encouraging the creative intellectual and personal growth of visual artists. We hope to facilitate this process by offering a gallery space and time so artists can focus on their practices in a safe space where they can thrive, create freely and assess their values as creators/makers.

AiR length: approximately 8 weeks
Dates: July-August
Number of artists in residence at a time: One
